The layer you have created will have a lot in common with many other layers you may want to create. A quick workround is to create a generalised typical layer involving many commonly used fields. Save is as, say, ‘general layer’.

Then you can save a lot of time when you want to create a similar layer by copying the general layer (without data). This will include styling. Then you quickly tailor your copy to suit the new application by, maybe a few additions and deletions and maybe change a bit of styling.

This is particularly helpful if your typical layer contains choice lists
